BMW has revealed its all-new 2027 3 Series, which will start at $61,500 in Canada. The series includes the gasoline 330 xDrive and M350 xDrive, as well as the all-electric i3 50 xDrive.

New Models and Features

The 330 xDrive will start at $61,500, while the M350 xDrive will start at $78,500. The electric i3 50 xDrive will start at $74,900. The i3 is the series’ first electric built on the automaker’s Neue Klasse architecture.

The gas engines use 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, meaning the self-charging system assists the engine, but the car can’t drive on electricity alone. The M model uses an inline-six-cylinder engine making 437 horsepower and 428 lb-ft of torque.

Design and Performance

The new 3 Series is slightly larger than the cars it replaces, with wider front and rear tracks. The Neue Klasse styling simplifies the kidney grille and incorporates the lights into a single unit across the front.

Standard or optional wheel sizes on all models range from 19 to 21 inches. All models come with a panoramic sunroof with heat-deflecting laminated glass. The 330 xDrive can be equipped with an adaptive suspension and sport steering that’s standard on the M version.

Interior and Technology

Inside, a traditional instrument cluster is replaced with one stretching across the bottom of the windshield, with a 3D head-up display available as an option. A new 17.9-inch central touchscreen handles infotainment duties.

The steering wheel includes buttons with haptic feedback, along with shift paddles on gasoline models. The i3 50 xDrive uses the sixth generation of BMW’s eDrive technology, with twin motors producing 463 horsepower and 476 lb-ft of torque.

Production and Availability

The new gasoline 3 Series models will be built at BMW’s plant in Dingolfing, Germany. The i3 will be produced at the factory in Munich. The new 3 Series models will go on sale in Canada in the first quarter of 2027.

BMW’s introduction of the all-new 2027 3 Series, including electric and gasoline models, marks a significant development in the automotive industry, as car manufacturers continue to invest in electric vehicle technology and respond to changing consumer preferences.

The i3 50 xDrive has an estimated range of 750 km and can fast-charge up to 400 kW. If a compatible charger is found, BMW says the car can get up to 335 km in 10 minutes. The charging port can be opened manually or automatically if the car is being driven to a recognized charging point.

Consumers who are interested in purchasing one of the new models can visit their local BMW dealership to learn more about the cars and their features.
