Gran Turismo is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a free update and limited-edition merchandise. The update, Spec IV, adds six new vehicles and a new track to the game, released on October 15 as version 1.72.

The update, version 1.72, includes the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta, 1986 Citroën 2CV 6 Charleston, 1987 Honda Civic Si Group A, 2023 Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line, 2026 Mazda RX-VISION GT3 EVO, and Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo. These additions showcase the series’ blend of extreme concepts and everyday cars, from a French economy car to a futuristic minivan. The lineup reflects Gran Turismo’s tradition of mixing high-performance vehicles with practical models, like the Daihatsu Midget.

The SUGO International Racing Course is another new addition, featuring 13 corners over 2.23 miles and a 10% gradient in its final corner. This Japanese circuit also boasts roughly 229 feet (70 m) of elevation change, adding a challenging twist for players. A Vintage section for cars from 2000 and earlier caters to collectors, while the Car Concierge feature allows players to request specific models, colors, and conditions, with up to four searches running simultaneously based on collector level.

Limited-Edition Controller for Hardcore Fans

A Gran Turismo Limited Edition controller is launching for the anniversary. It features a white base, racing stripes, motorsports graphics, a textured front plate, and a carbon-fiber-style finish. Priced at $84.99, preorders open on October 22, with the official release on December 10. American buyers can order via PlayStation Direct starting at 10 a.m. EDT, and select retailers will also offer it in limited quantities.

While the controller is a premium purchase, the game’s free updates continue to add value. Gran Turismo 7, released in March 2022, has received regular updates, including new features, cars, and courses from developer Polyphony Digital. This ongoing support may justify the controller’s cost for dedicated fans, especially those seeking a unique collectible.
