Alfa Romeo unveiled the Cuorerosso concept, a vehicle designed to prove the Italian automaker remains a master of design. The sleek 2+2 includes rear suicide doors and a modern yet retro interior. The concept previews a new design language for the firm, replacing what the company describes as an outdated family of vehicles. Officials say the shape resembles a two-door sports car, though it is actually a four-door Gran Turismo. It combines elements of supercars and traditional GT models. The car is 185 inches long, 77 inches wide, and 51 inches tall, making it slightly longer than the Giulia, wider, and notably lower.
Wedge-Shaped Headlights And Bold Styling
The front of the car features a new look for the brand. The wedge-shaped headlights combine dozens of small LEDs to create a bold and dynamic appearance. The grille is traditional for an Alfa Romeo, featuring bold character lines. Perhaps the best way to appreciate the design is to look at the side. Beautiful curves and creases run along the bodywork.
The side windows gently wrap around the edges of the roof. A set of huge, forged wheels, each with six circular elements and a striking gold finish, further adds to the wild design. The rear is just as dramatic. It includes a Scudetto-shaped rear window, a pair of circular LED taillights, and stacked exhausts sitting in the center of the bumper.
Twin-Turbo V6 Power And Interior Details
The Cuorerosso concept uses the same twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 as the Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio models. In those cars, the engine delivers 505 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Alfa Romeo says the concept pairs the engine with a hybrid system, so it should offer even more power. Other key features include all-wheel drive, a torque converter transmission, and a carbon fiber driveshaft.
The interior is inspired by the 33 Stradale of 1967. It includes a yoke-styling steering wheel with a drive-mode controller and two other switches. The dashboard has a large gauge behind the steering wheel. At the touch of a button, this gauge can split into two separate gauges. The cabin also uses familiar circular air vents and a floating central spine with a large touch panel.
